As we all indulge ourselves in our delicious home cooked food or the delights of our cities restaurants during this holy month, let us not forget our fellow muslims that would give everything they have in this world for one half eaten samboosa that you might have put down because you got too full or a mouthful of water from the bottle you discarded when there was just a little bit left. These people are real and they are muslims.
Now imagine that feeling you get an hour before iftar; the drowziness, fattigue, stomache churning, thirst and hunger, and imagine this feeling continuing to get more intense way past sunset in to the night and the day after for days on end, only getting worse and worse. These people experience just that.
Somalia is experiencing one of the worlds biggest famines in human history, with an estimated minimum of 30,000 children already dead of starvation, and a further 400,000 at risk of dying. Everyday 1,500 flee somalia to seek refuge at camps in neighbouring kenya and ethiopia so far this has been their only hope and it is still barely enough.
Please help! These are fellow human beings they have no other option, and we have the means to make a difference.
